BMW R100R motorcycle with SPRINT RS-Style fairing

A 1993 US-specification R100R, one of only 47 in that colour, The last pushrod BMW motorcycle. Fitted here with a SPRINT (Upton Lovel, Warminster, UK. ) RS-Style Fairing, pre-painted in the same BMW Pearl White by SPRINT and costing about £600 in 1996 years money. Nigel Huish supplied two BMW R100RS indicator/mirrors and mounts were fitted to the pre-drilled holes. SPRINT no longer supply fairings like this. but have gone into Triumph and other make fairing repair work.
Fairing is made of high quality fiberglass, and comes with a complete fitting kit, new hedlamp mounting and support bars that go from the lowers to the frame just above the cylinders. All R100R frames were fitted with two pre-drilled holes in the front of the headstock to take the BMW factory fairings and are used to take the SPRINT front support fairing member.
SPRINT also offered the R100R fairing with twin headlamps.

This picture shows the rider view of the fairing. The sides near the tank can be adjusted to just touch the tank or leave a small gap. The R100R was eventually converted back to a naked bike before it was sold in 2010 with 80K miles on the clock.

Machine was bought new from Prestige BMW at Rt17, at Ramsey NJ. and in 1994 the machine was later riden from New Jersey to Sunnivale, California, and exported to the UK with handlebar fairing still fitted.
The machine was owner serviced and modifed. Typical R100 faults were breakup of rear output bearing in the gearbox, and output shaft seal failure, but otherwise was very reliable. No special preparation was made to travel the 3,800 miles from NJ to CA, using mainly the Rte 40 and Rte 101
